MIDGUT BLOOD SUPPLY-SUPERIOR MESENTERIC ARTERY (BRANCHES)

1. INFERIOR PANCREATODUODENAL ARTERY - supplies the duodenum below the insertion of the bile duct. Runs b/w the duodenum and pancreas, supplying both to anastamose with the superior pancreatoduodenal artery.

2. MIDDLE COLIC ARTERY - highest branch, passes up to the transverse mesocolon to give left + right branches.

3. RIGHT COLIC ARTERY - passes to the right to give ascending + descending branches.

4. ILEOCOLIC ARTERY - passes to the right of the SMA, to the ileocaecal junction to give the ileal + colic branches.

5. JEJUNAL + ILEAL BRANCHES - enter the mesentery to the left to form vascular arcades.
