GIT-STOMACH INTRODUCTION

1. Lies in the left hypochondrial, epigastric and umbilical regions, much of it is under the cover of the ribs.
2. In the newborn it has a capacity of 30mls, in adults it can accomodate 1500mls or more.
3. The stomach is completely invested in peritoneum.
4. Troisier's sign (associated with gastric CA) - rarely the left supraclavicular LN may become palpably involved through spread of malignancy via the lymphatics of the posterior mediastinum.
