GIT-OESOPHAGUS

1. Extends from mouth to stomach.
2. The oesophagus projects through the diaphragm at T10 (or 7th costal cartilage).
3. The abdominal portion of the oesophagus is bound to the margins of the diaphragmatic opening by fibrous tissue, the phreno-oesophageal ligament.
4. The anterior + posterior vagal trunks lie close to the oesophagus here.
