EXTERNAL OBLIQUE

1. Origin (O): from the external surfaces of the lower 8 ribs (5-12).
2. Insertion (I): linea alba, pubic tubercle, anterior half of the iliac crest.
3. Forms the inguinal ligament.
4. Nerve Supply (NS): ventral rami of T7-T12 nerves.
5. Action (A): compresses and supports the abdominal viscera, flexes and rotates the trunk.
